As far as the CursorXP issue I've never been able to use any of Tycus' cursors , they lock my system up. My CXP may be outdated though, I haven't checked. Try some of Tycus' other cursors and see if you get the same effect.

turns out MS's newest MSI patch release hosed all the information from the Window's 3.1 installer

Isn't it wonderful how their fixes can cause so many other problems

This is the reason that I refuse to simply install all of their updates...I now install critical updates only after reading the details.

Of course that doesn't mean they will not cause issues but it makes isolating them easier

In the case of multiple errors with various programs I would uninstall each program, Through Stardock Central if that is how you installed them...reboot...use a registry cleaner. Then install again via Stardock Central.

To trouble shoot even more effectively it would be best to install 1 at a time, run them for a day or 2, customize, change skins ect, then install 1 more ect.

I change .bootskin to .zip - when moderating, it makes it easy to get the images out for inspection. Individuals packaging bootskins should use Bootskin to do it for the reasons I mentioned. It also makes it easier for users downloading and installing the bootskin

Fuzzy...it's the fastest way to look at such file content...when modding boots I 'save-as' and change to 'zip' so ExplorerPlus can show me the images without having to run the silly proggy itself.

Sometimes submissions in the bootskin section are bootskins within bootskins...as some silly person confuses themselves when compiling them...

this time I chose to use the zip compression method naming instead of rar

Skin formats are renamed ZIP files...not renamed RAR [or any other archive format you might want to imagine/use]....

Step one...

ZIP your skin folder.

Step two...

Rename the 'zip' suffix to [in this case] 'bootskin'.

Take into account you also have to create a progress bar that uses the same color palette as your image. Could that be what's causing the issue?

You need to look at the filename...it needs to be something like 'picture.bmp' - where picture is the name of the image...the suffix cannot be anything other than 'bmp'...

Sorry about that, Morpheous. Ok, here is what I do when I port msstyles:

I import the msstyle theme. I tinker with it, making any changes I want, if needed. Then I do a "save". If you want to change the name of the skin, you need to do a "save as" (At this point, I still keep skin studio open.) I then close the Windowblinds configuration window. Then I re-open it. Then scroll to the skin. Then I apply the skin.

If everything is the way I want it, then I go back into skin studio, and do a "zip for distribution." At this point, you can go back into the windowblinds config and change your theme to something else, then delete the theme you just made. Then you can re-install it by clicking on the wba file you just made. Or, you can just leave that theme on. If you delete the theme, and re-install it, your file will be smaller, because skin studio will only zip files that are actually being used in the theme.

WindowBlinds has never supported msstyles directly, but you can import msstyles into WindowBlinds format using SkinStudio. Because of this and because WB skins cannot be converted into msstyle format, WindowBlinds actually allows you to use more skins than any other product.
